Mind The Lab
An encounter with science
Live experiments in subway stations – a collaboration with the Greek science communication organization SciCo during the Berlin Science Week 2018
Mind The Lab November 8, 2018, 14:00-18:00
Subway Stations Alexanderplatz, Friedrichstraße, Stadtmitte, Möckernbrücke, Rathaus Steglitz
Prasentation of PDI Alexanderplatz, Stadtmitte
The Paul Drude Institute, Leibniz-Institute in FVB brings Mind The Lab to Berlin for the first time.
This concept was developed by SciCo in Greece and was a big success both times it was running in Athens. For the first time, Berliners will be confronted directly with scientific experiments in five subway stations during a multi-hour scientific rush hour.
On November 8th booths will be set up from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the subway stations Alexanderplatz, Friedrichstraße, Stadtmitte, Möckernbrücke and Rathaus Steglitz, where scientists will give exciting insights into their research.
The PDI itself will display the world of nanotechnology at the station “Alexanderplatz” and it will showcase how light is transported on a conveyor belt made of sound waves at the station “Stadtmitte”.
Transmission of knowledge
As an institute of the Leibniz Association, PDI is interested in doing socially relevant research. This means that science takes place at the highest level and is then translated in a way that enables the society to use it.
Therefore, PDI engages to communicate science but also the scientific principle itself. Mind The Lab is a great science adventure confronting the general public with science in a very unusual and exciting way.
